Bag Lady

I loved it when it was a Flickr Group and now I love it when J Crew does it. Hi, my name is Quindome and I love to see what is in people's purses. It's true, I also love to see what is in people's refrigerators. If you ever opened mine, you might a. Wonder why one girl needs to keep so many unimportant receipts and b. find six packages of mini altoids. Hey, don't judge. The internet brings out weird fascinations in us all.

Music Monday

Happy Monday! Though I still feel baffled by the need for weathermen to be put into the hurricane to tell me it's raining, it amused me this weekend nonetheless. Thank you NBC-4 in DC for amusing me all weekend with your hilariously unplanned 24 hour coverage!

Last week I was, noticeably absent, due to my stressful week at work. This week will most likely be equally stressful, but I'm gonna give it the ole' college try to do some posting. Now, after a stormy weekend, we need some jazzy tunes up in this mofo!

Friday at Five

Images via Me :)

Sorry for the lack of posts this week. If I worked in Fashion, which I don't, this would be the week leading up to Fashion Week. This week and next are possibly the busiest days at my job all year long. I could stay until 2AM, as I have before, and still wouldn't have it all done. I am gonna try to pre-schedule some posts for next week, but we'll see how that pans out. If not, look for me again on the week of the 29th.

As for this weekend, I'm getting my hair cut tonight (Still not sure what to do...YIPES!), dinner with R., and then WORK x A MILLION. I'll be glad when at least this work rush dies down.

I hope your weekend is lovely. The weather here in DC has been just delightful and I hope it is the same for you.

Bees for Boys

Image via MSN

Yesterday, as I browsed MSN, this picture came up. Instantly I thought, "Is it cool to wear bee antennae? Do dudes like that?" I was disappointed when I read the article. It mentions nothing about bees. In fact, it just says lame stuff like "Wear black lingerie. Girlfriend, you know men can't resist that!". So for whoever chose that picture, you're the bee's knees.

Dear Kate Moss

Image via Fashionista

Dear Kate Moss,

You're wild and weird. You made me want to be SUPAH' skinny when I was younger, but I'm loving this older you. If no one else has told you today, you're looking better than ever.

Love,

Quindome

P.S. Love that your wedding was inspired by gypsies. So true to form.

Monday Morning Deep Thoughts

Happy Monday!

This morning my thoughts can only run to Fall. I know everyone loves Summer, but I miss sweaters, hearty indoor food, and crisp breezes. As all the young folk in my family prepare to go off to college, middle school and high school, I find myself feeling a bit lost lately. As a person so frequently defined as student, I'm wondering what will I be once I finish this dang thesis. I hope this will be done in the next two months or so, which will be a relief, but I find myself worrying a lot these days about my future direction. I know I don't normally talk about personal things that much, but maybe I'm just thinking if I can put this out there in the universe, the universe will send me back an answer.

Anyway, enough for deep thoughts and back to regularly scheduled programming.

I guess in the meantime, I should focus my energies on things I can change... like looking for a new winter coat. I've had the same navy blue pea coat since I was a freshman in high school! Suggestions?

Friday at Five

Image via FX

Happy Friday everyone! Some mad thesis-ing will be happening this weekend as I prep to send my advisor my third revision of my final draft before it goes to committee. So, umm, yeah, lots of library time and massive coffee drinking. RL and I have to watch our last Netflix DVD, Days of Heaven, before the cut off date. I kind of like that I have some mandated fun built into my weekend. Also, I'll probably have to watch last nights Louie again, with Doug Stanhope. I'll probably do a post on this show later, but if you aren't watching it, I think your missing something AHHHHMAZING. It blows me away week in and week out. Okay, party on good people.

Show your Street Cred

This week I celebrated five years of being a NoVA/DC Suburbanite. Sometimes I wish I lived in the city, but then I remind myself that I'm only a metro hop away. As I thought about my love for my little city, I thought how nice it would be to have some DC-centric art. I stumbled upon this rad little shop by studiokmo. I am crazy for paper cuts anyway, a la Rob Ryan, but how freaking cool are these? While the DC map is a drawing, its incredible detail and modern look really draws me in. Check out the other cities, maybe even your own. Another, "How did they do that?" moment over here.

That's how Tomboys Do

Image via Tomboy Style

Have you read the super awesome blog Tomboy Style? If not, could you please get on top of that? As somewhat of a tomboy, it's such a nice collection of style posts. I like my makeup and dress clothes as much as the next gal, but the truth is growing up with two brothers probably affected the way I dress and think more than I would have imagined. I want to be dressier, but the truth is that I like jeans and T's. As for a tomboy attitude, some of the coolest cats I know are tomboys.
Check out the essentials grid they did last week to help determine your Tomboy Style. I was mostly, The American, which kind of surprised me.

Instaxy Delight

Busy weekend visiting with family, feeling rundown, and somehow Wednesday is here! I probably shouldn't have tried to start blogging again during my busiest month at work, but who is Quindome if not a bit mad? It's been a long while since I've posted some Instax shots. These are from the past few months. For those of you wondering, "Quindome, should I too get an instax?", the answer is a resounding YES!

Hope you Enjoy!

Hittin' the Ole' Dusty Trail

Radiohead

Via Mico.Toledo on Flickr

After a long week, in which I was challenged by work and thesis, I'm glad to be leaving town early today to visit with my family. Multiple times this week I felt like quitting my job and never finishing my thesis because, as I'm sure anyone can relate, it just felt like more load that I was made to bear. I like what Jordan had to say in this post about tough times and hard work.

So instead of quitting and potentially joining the circus, I'm going to step back a bit and hopefully hit the ground running next week. I'm off to visit with my niece, Munchie, on her next to last weekend before her first year of college. Sometimes, when life gets tough, you need the ole' salve of a loving family and I'm mega blessed in the department. Have a lovely weekend!

P.S. I have no real talent that the circus might want, aside from the fact that I've operated an air-popper popcorn maker. Glad that was only my plan B! Shwew!*brow wipe*

Give in to Yellow

Image via The Cambridge Leather Satchel Company

Yes, it is time for me to own this bag. So glorious in all of its yellow, school like charm. Maybe it is the curse of being a teacher's kid, but I'll forever love school related items and this reeks of prep-school charm. I. Cannot. Stop. Staring. At. It.

Terrific Tune Tuesday

Yeah, that's right. I just gave you permission to skip work and party on a Tuesday. Whatever your idea of getting crunk is, let's make that happen with these sweet little numbers. You could party Quindome-style and take yourself home for some magazine reading and coffee drinking! Or you could just turn these way up on your crappy cubicle speakers and annoy everyone else at work with your awesome musical taste. You know, whatever floats your boat.

Burning House

What would you do if your house was burning? Would you grab your new Ipad? Would you grab your old Cabbage Patch? So asks aptly named The Burning House. I'd be the one grabbing my old Cabbage Patch and dashing out. Isn't this one of those cool blogs that makes you think, "Why didn't I think of that?". Maybe I'm a real luddite, but I was surprised how many people grab technology.

Happy Tuesday! Busy week, thus the late return.
