Friday at Five

Via My Modern Met Blog

Friday at five and I got places to go and people to see. Actually, I have a full weekend of thesis ahead, so that was almost a total lie... Except for the Friday part. Still working on getting down my time to blog, so next week should be better with more new posts. I find myself wondering how awesome bloggers like Joanna Goddard find so much sweet content. I don't really love to post too much on here about my personal life: a.) Because it is not that interesting and b.) My day job is not one where I would want tons of folks to know my beezness, you know what I'm sayin'?
You got any big plans for the weekend? Suggestions for the blog? Thoughts on life? Curious to know.

Happy Friday!

Snack Attack

I obsess over my snacking. It is true that once I ate two boxes of Cheez-Its by myself in four days. *sidenote: It was the first week of college and I was a mad woman who was too stressed to eat in the caf alone. Sad and also true.* Lately, all I can dream of snacking on are Emerald Cocoa Roasted Almonds. Yeah, it's true that I could make my own and usually I would try, but this week is too busy and these are too delightful.Crunch, crunch, crunch...

To Bike or Not to Bike? That is the Question.

I know it is getting late in the summer to still be clambering for a bike, but I am! I live in the super suburbs of DC, which is lame for late night pizza, but good for biking. I would whiz off to coffee across from my apartment! I would glide to my local Wegmans! Is it too late? Don't you think I could take some lovely rides still in the Fall?

P.S. Don't judge, but I'm thinking of this butterscotch bike from Wally.

A Little Green Lake in the Middle of London

Did you see that Selfridges, the large department store in London, opened a temporary lake on its roof? First time the roof has been opened since WWII and I'm super envious of the lucky folks who got to paddle 'round up there.

Nerd Confession

Image via Picable.com

Confession: This weekend, I had a total meltdown over my plants. I had to confess to RL that it really upsets me when I kill them and or, like a few weeks ago, leave them on the terrace to burn into brown leaves. I really want to keep them alive.
Am I alone in feeling like a loser because I have less than a green thumb?

P.S. Really want to keep my third-in-one-year jade plant alive. Dear Internet fairies, please let this one live!

Happy Friday!

No big Friday posts today. About a million and a half degrees in DC today and I have a summer cold.Baloney, I say! Said cold will not keeping me from seeing Captain America or popping into IKEA for new frames this weekend, but it may cause me to go lighter on work things than I had hoped.

Have a lovely weekend, whatever your plans.

Instax Ahoy

I now feel inspired to take even more Instax shots! But I will also have to find some sassy fabric to put them on. Sweet little Flickr project from Smile and Wave.

Oily Face... On Purpose

This week I've been using my new Josie Maran Argan Oil. Rolling from the city of Oily Cheeks, I was initially hesitant to put more oil on my face, duh, but I may be sold. My face feels soft like a kitty's nose. (Couldn't bring myself to say baby's butt, what of it?) It has a sort of strange smell, but getting to use the science experiment like dropper in my beauty routine makes it worth it.

Any new beauty products I should know about? I like things on both ends of the super cheap and wildly expensive spectrum, but tend to buy mostly in the middle.

Nigella, Nigella Pure delight

Image via Google Image Search

Don't get me wrong, I'm a Giada DeLaurentiis fan through and through and through. So much so that I didn't even have to google how to spell her last name! I just impressed myself with that one... A little stalker-y, but oh, well, on to the story. I loved Giada so much that for years I refused to consider any other chefs. I exclusively cooked Giada created dishes. I only bought her cookbooks. I've since branched out and from that realized that I have room in my heart for one more hottie chef.

Nigella, how pumped are you?

I like that when she cooks she's messy and she does that weird thing at the end where she is supposedly eating a midnight snack. I like that her food is quick and usually pretty easy to make. What I don't understand is how her sweaters always stick to her dresses, but that's a different issue all together.

I was so bummed I missed out on submissions for 'Roid Week on Flickr, but it did inspire me to finally order some Impossible Project color shade film for my old Rainbow 600 Polaroid. I'm worried that my lack of keen photography skills will cause me to ruin the delicate film, but it's a project I've wanted to support for a while. Still loving my Instax Mini oh, so much, but have to support my good old Polaroid. In fact, I should post some of my instaxes soon... I should also stop talking to myself online.

I feel WANTY!

Oh, what is feeling wanty, you ask? It's when you want to buy things that are totally unnecessary to live, like tp or milk, but new earrings or diamond encrusted shower caps (who am I to judge?). Items I have recently added to my wish list:

This would make nightly phone calls home so much less annoying because I'm a loser who can't not push the end call button with my ear on my smart phone. Also, it is adorable. I'd like to use this in public just to see peoples faces as I pulled this out my bag to make a very important call (read: Ordering pizza).

We recently moved into a new apartment and need some new art. While some say art is necessary and I normally agree, I have to file this under "wanty" right now because I have those first months GIANT move in fees that I have to pay. Barf. I love this picture and have been thinking of getting it for a while now. Globes are sort of the best, but I also like the way this room looks both familiar and sort of ominous. Aaaaaand, that's is it for my art critique, because otherwise, my lack of attention in Art 101 will really show through.

What are you feeling wanty for today? Do share!

Music to your Ears

I know what you are saying... I hear you. "Quindome, having you back is music to our ears!" C'mon, I'm blushing over here... Never mind, none of you said that and I'm actually just flushed from my second cup of overly strong coffee. Regardless, I promised I'd return and here I am buckaroos. Let's start this week off accordingly.

I'm not gonna lie, I jumped on the Adele train late, but when I did, I went whole hog! My last.fm should have a lot more Adele on there, but sometimes I'm too lazy to scrobble my ipod. All I know is Adele is the bees knees.

Oh, you don't know The Band? That's all right, baby. You just pull up your Netflix cue and add "The Last Waltz". Thank me later. RL introduced me to them years ago and this is one of my favorites. Sorry for the non-video, but that's all I could find.
