Bibliotherapy

Just ready cool story this month's Ready Made about a shop in London, called The School of Life, which will prescribe you books based on your reading tastes and life goals. This month, I've been guiltily reading Eat, Pray, Love, not my usual type of fare, and thinking about how I can win the lottery. Not maybe the best time to get a prescribed reading list for therapy, but doesn't this sound rad? As if your cooler, older, wiser friend slipped you a dog eared copy of Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs, more my usual stuff, and said, "It'll change your life." I love books! What have you been reading lately?

Pendleton

Image via Opening Ceremony

Does anyone else think that the combination of Opening Ceremony and Pendleton is some kind of nice besides me? First spotted it in this months O magazine which I bought to cheer myself up and sort of haven't been able to get it off my brain. It's not really my style, which if you must know is what I call lazy kid-chic, but still caught my eye. What do you think? Could you rock this look?

Shwew! A whole weeks sans blogging! Did you miss me? Last week was really rough because it was my first full week in a new role at work. I have to ask, how do all of you wonderful bloggers stay so on top of posting/finding content? Anyway, this weekend was full of work because I was trying to get my proposal to my thesis advisor, which I have! HUZZAH! I'm sure she'll come back and say I need to do some editing, but it feels good to have it to her in some form. I got a much needed haircut and watched Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. I really loved the movie and hope you'll check it out. Did a little bit of clothes browsing, but only bought... (drum roll)... another cardigan. What?! I love them and can hardly wait for Fall to begin in proper so I can wear one everyday! RL got me some lovely tulips and some new fun socks, which cheered me immensely to look at while I slaved away on thesis! Thanks! They are wonderful! I woke up early both days and have to say, at this point the idea of being able to sleep in one day soon is looking better and better. I've missed blogging, but have to be honest and ask for advice. How can I do this, something I enjoy, when I seemingly have so little time? Help! Hope you had a lovely and fantastic weekend, without alarm clocks!

Music To Your Ears

I wish this video was better, but this song is pretty much a favorite for me and RL. Doesn't it make you want to grab a beer and hang out or go on a road trip? Notice the "or" kids. I do not condone drinkin' and driving. Nope, no sireee. Also it was the opener for Comedians of Comedy and it reminded me how excited I am to be seeing Patton Oswalt this weekend. If you don't know him, get on that. He's hilarious.

I've been thinking of getting an Olympus Pen already, but this video may have sold me. I love, love, love stop motion anyway, but this was such a genius concept!

Weird reflecting on last weekend while already looking forward to this one, but here it goes:
Work, work, thesis work, work, thesis work, coffee, work, make cookies, paint nails, work, quickie Target run. Not much to report about this one. Hoping to reclaim Mondays for Weekend Plans. Which means, I have to be doing something aside from working on weekends... So we'll see how that goes. I'm already in protest of this new 7 day work week I've been having.

Oh Laetitia!

Image found via Google Image

Good Morning! Weekend plans will be late... Yet again..., but I did want to wish you Good Monday! Have you all see the Elnett Hairspray ads with Laetitia Casta? Doesn't she look so gorgeous? Like a modern Rita Hayworth? I don't really use hairspray and do try to avoid aerosol cans, but this ad made me want to toss my hair up into a wicked beehive and spray it so much that I could run through a monsoon with no issues. What? Is that weird?

Plan for the weekend: Work on work. Work on thesis. Figure out how to bring blogging back into my life. Oh, I miss it so. See you next week with regular posting again. Isn't this picture rad? Wish I was picking flowers too. Have a delightful and charming weekend. I hope you eat a cookie!

Apricots

Found via Urban Outfitters Blog

I watched this a few weeks ago and have thought about it since. I love that this is a COFFEE commercial. Yeah, watch it and then read that last sentence again. Something so lovely about the way it reminds you of the power of smell and taste to evoke memories long forgotten. Makes me want to buy this coffee Nespresso, which was cool enough for George Clooney to star in their commercial. He's kind of my long term boyfriend.

Sterling Silver

Roger Sterling is, at times, my favorite character on Mad Men. I love his one liners and rakish charm. In honor of him, I'd like to have a bar cart in my office. Okay, I'd like to have one anyway, but he is a good reason, right? Check out that article to get to know John Slattery more. Who knew that guy would be a surfer?

These are mostly of my Sunday plans, but what the hey, there are only so many pictures you can take of books and a laptop. Saturday was an all day session of thesis reading, wrapped up by finally watching Mad Men from last week. Oh, gosh, was it good! Haven't watched last night's yet, but I will ASAP! Spent Sunday strolling around Eastern Market and Capitol Hill. What a charming neighborhood! Picked out a mustard yellow dream house, ate at the lovely Montmarte, and browsed to my hearts content with my lovely pal Laura. How was your weekend? Full of fun or full of work? Mine was a mix of both.
